Halloween Fun

Derek dressed up as Harry Potter for our ward Chili Cook Off and Trunk or Treat and for the youth dance later that night.  One of the families decorated their trunk as Hogwarts and everyone was part of the Gryffindor House.  So of course, we had to get a photo of Derek with the rest of the Harry Potter group.

Stephen dressed up as a doctor and I was a tourist (loud Hawaiian shirt, lei and straw hat).  The funny thing was that our friends Holly and Jon dressed as a dentist and a tourist, respectively.  We all got a big laugh out of that one.

Stephen, Derek and I were judges at the Chili Cook Off so we got to try all of the chili dishes.  It was fun but afterwards my stomach hurt all night long.  :-)

The party was fun with something for everyone--games for the kids run by the youth, Jell-o eating contest, even a flower decorating craft for the women to do.

  1. So fun! Wish we could have been there! Derek looks great! Where's the pictures of you and Dad?

  2. I agree with Heather. It sounds like a great party. We had a fun one, too. And apparently the rumor around town (according to one 3rd grader) is that the "Mormons" moved Halloween to Saturday this year. Interesting perspective, don't you think?

  3. Sorry, Heather, don't know if we got any photos of us. And, Janeil, that is an interesting perspective. We decided to still hand out candy on Sunday evening because we wanted to meet our neighbors a little. We had quite a few trick-or-treaters come by in adorable costumes (didn't have to cover them up with coats to keep warm) and a couple of them said, "We live just down the street from you. Welcome to the neighborhood!"
