Delray Beach Day

We had a fun family outing today to Delray Beach, Florida.  The downtown area was really cute with the shops and pathways.  When we drove into town, I noticed a sign about an Arts and Crafts Festival that day and suggested that we stop and walk through it.  The idea was vetoed by the 3 men in the family but we still managed to find the festival and drive slowly past it.  And that worked for me.

Our whole purpose in going to Delray Beach was to go on a Segway Tour (gotta love those Groupon Deals!)  I love those little transportation machines.  It is so fun to zip along and feel the breeze in your face.  Devyn and Derek had never been on one before.  They quickly picked up the skill of riding it.  We all had a great day together!

"Crafting for Baby" Shower

I helped plan a baby shower for my sweet daughter Heather.  I couldn't attend--needed to save my travel $ for when my granddaughter arrives--but I had lots of fun helping with the planning and sending lots of loving thoughts her way that day.

A great big THANK YOU to my sisters and mom who hosted the shower and carried out all of the plans!!!
Teresa working on one of the applique crafts.
Mom organized the applique station.
They appliqued onesies and bibs for the baby-to-be.
Janeil also helped with the applique craft.
I've got the best sisters in the world!
Marcia helping my nieces at the flower-making station.
They crafted a  lot of beautiful flowers for baby's headbands.
One of the guests embroidering a onesie.  It turned out cute!
Sewing on an applique.
Valerie provided the wonderful food.  Isn't it just displayed beautifully?!
Valerie must have also been the photographer because I don't have any pictures of her.
The tables look so cute!
Heather and her friends having fun.
Enjoying the conversation and refreshments.
It looks like a fun party.
I made the favors--a little notepad and a flower pen.
It was fun to pack a box with the favors and send them to my sister
knowing that she would open it to a profusion of flowers.
And, yes, I was there too for a little while via skype.  Gotta love technology!

Temple Day

We have had a wonderful week!  Devyn and Derek returned home from their year at BYU.  It has been so very awesome to have them back home and to be able to visit with them and hug them and be with them.

A highlight of the week for us was going to the Orlando temple on April 24th.  It was a beautiful day and it was wonderful to be there with both of our sons.  The only thing that would have made the day better was to have had Heather and Anthony there, too!

Derek is preparing for his mission to Colorado Denver South.  He's excited and looking forward to his mission.  And we're happy and excited for him, too!

Savior of the World: His Resurrection

This is what I've been preparing for during the past four months.
Our stake presented the musical drama Savior of the World: His Resurrection.
I was asked to head up the production committee.  These are pics of a dress rehearsal.
Our technical director created this awesome looking stage.
The stage ceiling lights were draped with white fabric for the actual performances.
Mourners at the tomb.  The stone is being rolled into place and the tomb is being sealed.

Mary Magdalene recognizes the Risen Lord.

Other women share the joyous news that they have seen the Savior.

Cleopas and a disciple sing about seeing the Savior on the road to Emmaus.
Our stake president is the non-bearded disciple.
He was so supportive and instrumental in helping us have a successful production.
Cleopas was our music director.

Peter and the apostles are witnesses Christ's resurrection.
They touch the wounds in his hands.
Mary and Mary Magdalene (sitting on the bench in the background)
are rejoicing with the other women that He lives!
Thomas finds out that more people have seen the Risen Lord.

Thomas finally sees the Savior with his own eyes.

Apostles fishing on the Sea of Galilee.

Angel declaring that Jesus has ascended to His Father.

Apostles went off into the world to be witnesses of Christ.
They have just taught the people sitting in front of them.

The entire cast and angel chorus are singing "Come, Lord Jesus, Come".

Gazing up in heaven where Christ has ascended.

Safari

Who knew you could go on safari in South Florida?  We used a two-for-the-price-of-one admission coupon to go to Lion Country Safari on Stephen's day off.  They have a drive-through safari--they give you a CD to listen to as you drive through the animal exhibits.  It was like driving through Yellowstone Park except there were giraffes, zebras and rhinos instead of bears and buffalo.  They also have a walk-though amusement park area.  We got to feed the giraffes (at the tune of $1.25 per lettuce leaf.)  First time we've fed a giraffe, though!

Thanks for the awesome day, Stephen!

Segway Tour

I love going on dates with my husband!  This empty nester stage of life is pretty fun!  We bought a groupon ticket for an Art Deco Segway Tour of Miami Beach.  The segways were the real draw for us--we've both always wanted to try riding one.
Okay, I'm talking while the picture was taken.  But we're both together!
Don't you just love those helmets?!
The first time getting on the Segway was a little wobbly.
But after getting my balance it started feeling natural.
We practiced going up and down the sidewalk a couple times
and then  our guide declared us ready to go.

The tour took in a lot of South Beach and Miami Beach.  There was an Deco Days festival happening at the same time and we got to learn a little about the architecture and history of the area.

But the Segways were AWESOME!  We couldn't stop smiling.

Post Script

P.S.  We're going to be GRANDPARENTS!  Heather and Anthony will have a new addition to their family in July.  We're looking forward to having another someone to love in our family.
