Birthday Time

Derek had a birthday!  After school, we went to the beach to learn how to use his new skim boards.  It was a perfect beach day--sunny, not too hot, feels great to put your feet in the sand type of day.  Derek and Devyn quickly caught on to using the skim boards and had some fun rides.  My photography skills just didn't capture the rides.

After we got back home, we had Derek's birthday dinner--South of the Border sandwiches, lettuce salad and a brownie trifle.  And he opened his other presents.  We played his new board game and I won!  But we all were within 3 points of each other.

We're so glad that Derek is part of our family!  And we are treasuring this time we have together before he graduates from high school and heads to college in the fall.

  1. Happy 18th Birthday, Derek!! We thought of him yesterday and hoped that he was having a good day. Matt is looking forward to seeing him again in Provo, and I may just have to sneak down there myself to see both him and Devyn. I miss those Holmstead "kids". . . and their parent, too!

  3. Thanks, Alison, for the birthday wishes. He had a nice day. And, Teresa, a skimboarder runs, drops the skim board on the edge of the water, stands on it and glides across the water. When you get good, you can do tricks and stuff.
