We are Grandparents!
The new parents are so very happy and feel such love for their new little one. I was privileged to spend some time helping them and seeing what awesome and loving parents they are!
Stephen and I are loving being grandparents. Stephen flew out on August 4th (a day later than planned due to weather delays in Florida). What a joy to hold little Alena in our arms and feel her sweet spirit. One evening I was telling her the story of where she came from and she was so alert and quiet and looked so deeply into my eyes. I could almost hear her saying to me, "Grandma, I wish I had the words to tell you about where I just was."
I loved seeing Stephen with Alena. He has always been great with newborns and being a grandpa is something pretty special!
On Alena's blessing day, we were able to get a 4-generation photo--Alena, Heather, me and my mom.
And, yes, my dad was there, too!
And, major bonus of the time at Heather's . . . . my dear friend Alison drove down from Idaho along with her daughter and new granddaughter just to visit us! We both get to be grandmas (nana, in her case) and enjoy this stage of life together. Okay, I guess we can enjoy this stage long-distance since I live in Florida now. I really enjoyed seeing Alison and Karen in person. I treasure their friendship and thank them for the great effort and time it took to visit us!
What a joy it was to meet the little one and to see you again! Alena is beautiful, just like her mama and grandma. She is a lucky little girl to join a family where she is so loved and treasured.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy grandmotherhood! Isn't it awesome?
I loved these pictures! The one with Stephen holding Alena and you looking on in the background was my favorite! She's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love this post, Mom, and I'm so glad you were here for the first few weeks of our little Alena's life. Thanks, Mom! We love you!
