Welcoming the New Year

Here's how we welcomed in 2011!
We went on a 16 mile bike ride in Shark Valley
and found plenty of these critters by the side of the path.
Derek looks closer than he actually is to the gator.
Halfway through the ride, there was a tower you could climb.
This is the view looking down.  Yep, those are alligators not logs.

Stephen from the top of the tower.
There were some great views of the Everglades.
Derek and I about two-thirds of the way through the ride.
We also saw lots of turtles and many different kinds of birds.
New Year's Eve and New Year's Day includes fireworks!
We went to a New Year's Eve party where the family had fireworks.  Fun!
On January 1st, Stephen and I enjoyed sitting in our backyard around the fire pit,
enjoying the beautiful weather, talking and watching the City of Davie fireworks display.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  1. That sounds wonderful! It was freezing here, so we stayed in, watched Despicable Me, and went to bed at 9:30 pm.

  2. Was there anything between you and the alligators to keep them from attacking? They do look awfully close. I almost ditto Teresa's comment. When it decides to get cold in Idaho, it gets COLD!!! We just slept for the New Year, though I did hear fireworks during the night. (I didn't open my eyes enough to see if it was midnight or not.)

  3. Wow. Those gators look a little too close for comfort, my comfort, anyway. Looks like a fun way to start the new year, but stay away from those gators, okay?
